After a busy Summer, with Book-Sale, Cream Tea, our Local Exhibition and Autumn Lecture, we look forward to our final events and openings this year.

We have been so pleased to welcome back schools after a lengthy spell where school visits were severely restricted due to COVID. Please note – we are now taking bookings for 2023! We welcome schools, History Societies or Church Groups ….. and can arrange tours, lectures or teas to suit! Our scheduled Openings for 2023 are listed here on the website.

As many of you know, we hold monthly prayer-meetings for the work of the Centre and the Church at Providence, usually on the second Wednesday of each month, @ 11.30am.

Our November prayer meeting is on Wednesday 9th and will  be preceded by a lecture at 11am

to be given by Robert Higginson, his subject being ‘George Cosens’, of Cradley Heath Baptist Church.

The church at Cradley Heath is notable for having  had the first Afro-Caribbean Minister in the Black Country, said to be the first known in Britain. In 1837, Rev. George Cosens was called to be their minister. He was very popular, and served in various other churches in the area.

Coffee will be served before the meeting, from 10.30am, and the lecture will be followed by the prayer-meeting at 12noon.

We have a slight problem, in that the toilets at Providence are to be refurbished, and the work due to begin on Monday 7th November. If this work begins as scheduled, the Wednesday Meeting will take place at Ebenezer Baptist Chapel, Station Road, Old Hill B64 6PA  by kind permission of the Pastor and Church, instead of at Providence, Bell End. We look forward to seeing as many folk as possible – both for the lecture and the time of prayer (folk are free to leave at 12noon if they do not wish to stay for the prayer meeting).

Our next opening of the actual Christian Heritage Exhibition is scheduled for Saturday 12th November between 1.30pm and 4pm.
